All recreational coaches must be at least 15 years old and complete mandatory training including the AquaGO! Instructor workshop for instructors working in a recreational non-competitive program. Some of our recreational coaches also have their National Lifeguard Certification and additional coaching certifications.
For some classes, your athlete’s coach may also be accompanied by a volunteer who will be assisting with the class. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old and complete mandatory training including the AquaGO! Program Assistant training.
Program Options
Go Capital offers TWO program options for our recreational athletes which differ with respect to time commitment and participation in our water shows. Parents are encouraged to look at both program options and determine which would be the best fit for their athlete.
1- FULL YEAR PROGRAM
Runs from the October through the end of April (pending confirmation of Year End Watershow date)
Our full-year recreational program is for swimmers who have previously done artistic swimming in the past or for new swimmers looking for a longer class and participation in our water shows!
Classes will be one and half hour in length. A portion of each practice will include dryland time where swimmers will work on core strength and flexibility as well as land drilling of their routine later in the season. Swimmers will spend the remainder of the practice in the water where they will learn, review and perfect basic artistic swimming skills. These skills will be incorporated into a routine with a focus on small patterns and synchronization of the entire group.
2 - SHORT TERM PROGRAM
Three sessions are typically offered throughout the season:
Fall: October to December
Winter: January to March
Spring: April and May
Our short term recreational program is recommended for both athletes new to the sport or returning swimmers unable to commit to the full year program.
This program will allow athletes to learn new artistic swimming skills and to build off of the key skills that they have learned in previous sessions. If your athlete is completely new to the sport, our coaches will make sure to teach the basic fundamentals of artistic swimming, as well as new fun skills for the whole group!
